The Hypocrisy of Black Liberals

Today the SCOTUS upheld the constitutionality of Obamacare. Not surprising, the four liberal justices were in the majority. What was surprising was that Chief Justice John Roberts was the fifth vote in the majority. Leading up to this opinion, pundits hypothesized that Justice Kennedy would be the swing vote on a balanced court of four conservatives (Alito, Roberts, Scalia, Thomas) and four liberals (Breyer, Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotomayor), and yet Kennedy was among the dissenting minority. Assigned the task of writing the dissenting opinion was Justice Clarence Thomas. If you are unfamiliar with Justice Thomas you should know, he is a Yale Law school graduate, a Catholic, and a conservative black man from Savannah, Ga. You should also know that Liberal America hates him. Why? Because you are never suppose to use the words conservative and black in the same sentence. Following the courts announcement, the following was said about Justice Thomas.

“Clarence Thomas voted against Obamacare...to me he is that field nigga that will never be a house nigga but he keeps trying anyway”

‘Clarence Thomas is a successful, google worthy nigga. Does that mean we should be proud of his whipping boy house nigga ass?”

“Bitch.ass Clarence Thomas said it voted aganist it the most uncle tominest shuckin and jivin nigga”

“Clarence Thomas will never change, just as much as the Imperial Wizard of the KKK will never change. Too far gone.”

“Im convinced that Clarence Thomas (supreme court justice) just doesn't want 2be considered black which is the reason why he votes as he does”

Are you disgusted? I am.  I’m also pretty sure Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will not come out condemning any of these hateful things floating around social media. If any of these statements were being made about Barack Obama, we would hear the first shots of a civil war ringing out tonight. But sadly, unless every black person falls in line with the liberal mindset, they are demonized as a traitor, Uncle Tom, White Man’s whore/slave, and not authenticately “Black”. I’m sick of it. This group-think mentality is ignorant and does nothing to benefit the community. It’s astounding how open-minded and free-thinking liberals are when it involves other liberals. Can we say argumentum ad hominemInstead of targeting the opinion of Justice Thomas and the other dissenters, they instead decide to attack his character. I dislike Obama and his policies but I would never attack him with such vitriol and disrespect.

This crap has to stop.

I’m shaking my head, black folks.

  1. Yes, I hate that....

It got my goard watching people comment when the Duggard's lost their baby. The comments were mean spirited about Michelle needing birth control and to stop "squirting out babies." But no where did they mention Jim Bob.

When it comes to matters of sex, it seems that people think it's solely the woman's responsibility to regulate birth.

And when it comes to being black, you can't be conservative or as you say your a "traitor, Uncle Tom" etc....

It's disgusting. When are people going to stop judging people's skin color/ethnicity or gender and start judging their beliefs only (in charitable ways)?

  2. LaToya do you have any thoughts on WHY it is inexcusable to be Black and conservative? I find the whole phenomenon interesting. And I so enjoy reading your thoughts!

  4. It's a cultural aspect. For most of American history, Black people have only had each other to depend on. They protected each other and always had to maintain an Us vs Them mentality. It's nothing different than Asians, Irish, Latinos, maintaining certain intercultural values. The problem is that there seems to be a view that no one should ever step outside of what the collective group thinks, or you're deemed to have lost your "citizenship" rights to be a member of the Black community.

  5. And also, a lot of it comes from fear. Fear that a cultural identity is becoming lost the more "members" stray from the whole.

  7. I'm slow to the uptake and finally started following your blog. I was missing all this awesomeness. Sigh, Kara. Sigh.

I have friends who are black conservatives and it is always assumed that they are liberals. It is so ridiculous and it ticks them off so much. I wish it would stop.

  8. The point that if Obama were called all those pejoratives it would be the start of a Civil War is so spot on. Thanks for being a voice for those who might otherwise feel bullied into silence. Ironic the bullies are the ones on the left.

  9. LT, but why did the black community coalesce around liberalism in the first place? That's what I cannot understand.

  10. Liberalism as an ideology is not wrong. America's break from England was based on liberal principles of equality, liberty, and natural rights. The abolition of slavery in America came from liberalism. In fact, minority faction of the Lincoln's Republican Party were called the Radical Republicans because they strongly opposed slavery (Lincoln did not), wanted civil and voting rights for freed slaves, and felt the Confederacy should have harsher punishments during the Reconstruction. In the 1950s and 1960s, liberalism led to integrated schools, the ability to date/marry interracially without legal punishment or fear of getting lynched. Liberalism has always been a radical political philosophy that has enacted changed against a strong conservative status quo. The black community has always held strong conservative values but liberal politics because that's how they've gained more rights. The problem now is that liberalism has gone away from the acceptance of natural law and common sense. Politics has blurred the line of what is really an inalienable right and what is merely a desire. So liberalism is not bad, but how it is used and what it gains, can be.

  11. The last thing the left wants is political pluralism among Black voters and in the Black popular culture. For this reason any African American who DARES leave the liberal plantation must be completely and viciously destroyed as a human being and not merely refuted. Liberals practice a left-handed racism which is insidious and more harmful than the last few vestiges of overt racism. It's condescending and patronizing and fueled by terrible stereotypes. They know what's best for blacks and the blacks themselves are incapable of managing their own destiny. It's revolting. The worst exponents of this mindset are also the ones who propagate the myth that conservatives are a bunch of racists. But it's largely conservatives who treat blacks as equals and have higher expectations of them.

  13. LT, your explanation a few comments up about the history of liberalism and black Americans makes a lot of sense and I have never heard it explained that way before!

  14. LT, you are right. Classical liberalism is wonderful. We are classical liberals. But the black community has not yet realized that this is not the liberalism that it used to be!! And it's not helping them anymore, it's keeping them down, frankly. Anonymous, really great comment.

  17. LT, Your comment on Liberal-Radical Republicans did not include the fact that everything they were in support of was opposed by the Democrats and has been through the 1960's Voting Rights struggle. Democrats have historically opposed everything about black America and civil rights. So it is still a puzzle as to why black people have chosen to support the Democrats.

  18. LT, pleasure coming across your bog although I must say that I'm rather offended by my first encounter of your blog citing the comments of the poor illiterate twats! Perhaps one day when these senseless individuals start to grapple with a better vocabulary and thought process, they may discover that Justice Thomas is actually defending "his people".

  19. Thank you for discussing this topic. It's bothered me for a long time, but it seems like it's taboo for a white person to criticize anything in the black community. I can even be sympathetic to that, it's very understandable. Even so, the abuse of black conservatives always drove me nuts. What kind of freedom is that? It reminds me of another argument I hear sometimes from conservative military supporters: people died for your freedom, therefor you must be pro war. Irony, anyone?
I'm particularly pleased with the way you lay out the distinction between values and politics, because that's exactly what I struggle with, and why both our political parties drive me up the wall, each for their own reasons.

  20. LT: You are preaching to the choir in what you say here. As a Black Catholic myself - I face this kind of persecution from my own nuclear family members. "Uncle Tom" is a term I am familiar with as that is what we call one another if we disagree with the view espoused by the person speaking to us. It was always unsettling to me even from a VERY young age... I would answer, "so just because I don't agree with YOU that makes me an Uncle Tom?" When I present the facts in a clear manner... THEN it is time for the personal attacks because the attacker has no other place to go. It seems like no one of like race has ever presented this argument to the person doing the arguing and they are confounded. Justice Thomas is a Black American hero... on the other side of the veil... the blind will see the trust of this. For now its HEARTS that must be converted before MINDS are converted. It is truly a time for spiritual warfare in the heavenlies. Pray PRAY and PRAY some more!
